Warner’s Hyderabad beat Kohli’s Bangalore to lift maiden 2016 IPL trophy ..

BANGALORE: Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by fiery Aussie opener David Warner, defeated one of the tournament’s favourites Royal Challengers Bangalore to lift their first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) title Sunday night  here at Chinnaswamy Stadium .

Chasing a challenging target of 209 runs, RCB batsmen starring skipper Virat Kohli and West Indian sensation Chris Gayle could only manage  for seven wickets to score 200 in the full 20 overs in the final.

Gayle made 76 off 38 and Kohli 54 in 35 deliveries to set the platform for an excitement finish to the tournament and that’s exactly what fans got. However, rest of the batting order couldn’t capitalize the brilliant start provided by the two classy openers and gave away the match to Sunrisers but only by 8 runs.

Cutting grabbed two wickets for 35 and BB Sran, Mustafizur Rahman and Bipul Sharma sahred one wicket each for Hyderabad.

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, the Sunrisers batsmen took full advantage of a lovely batting track here scoring 208 runs for seven wickets. Warner made 69 off 38 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes.

Dhawan 28 and Cutting remained unbeaten at 39 off just 15 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes,Yuvraj Singh scored 38 runs.

CJ Jordan grabbed 3 wickets for 25, S Aravind 2 wickets for 30 and YS Chahal 1 for 35 for the RCB.

Reuters adds: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the highest wicket-taker in this year’s competition, conceded only 9 runs in the final over to dash Bangalore’s hopes of being third time lucky in the final of the Twenty20 competition.

Warner and Shikhar Dhawan (28) added 63 runs to give Hyderabad a decent start. They lost Moises Henriques cheaply but Warner joined up with Yuvraj Singh (38) to consolidate the innings.

Warner fell in the 14th over and Yuvraj in the 17th but Ben Cutting´s 15-ball blitz ensured they had enough on the board for their bowlers.

Cutting (39 not out) smacked fellow Australian Shane Watson for three sixes in the final over of the innings as Hyderabad plundered 52 runs off the last three overs to breach the 200-mark.

Watson endured a terrible outing with the ball, conceding 61 runs in his four wicketless overs.

The target was difficult but not beyond a Bangalore team boasting a top order that would send shivers down the spine of any team in the world.

Gayle looked ominous too as the West Indian southpaw smacked eight sixes in his two-run-a-ball blitz, dominating his 114-run opening partnership with Kohli.

The match seemed to be slipping away when Cutting (2-35), whose all-round display earned him the man-of-the-match award, dismissed Gayle to bring much-needed relief to Hyderabad.

Skipper Kohli’s form, however, meant Bangalore were still very much in the contest. Four of the seven centuries in this year’s IPL had come from Kohli’s bat and the tournament’s top scorer needed just 32 balls to race to his fifty.

Barinder Sran bowled the Indian test captain to bring Hyderabad back into the match and Bipul Sharma dismissed the talismanic AB de Villiers (5) cheaply to choke Bangalore who managed 200-7 in their 20 overs.

Zoo kills gorilla cincinnati to protect small child in enclosure

A gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo was shot and killed Saturday after it grabbed and dragged a 4-year-old boy who fell into the animal’s enclosure, an official said.
Authorities said the boy, who fell 10 to 12 feet into the gorilla exhibit moat, is expected to recover after being picked up from the moat and dragged by the gorilla for about 10 minutes. The boy was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Zoo officials said he was alert when he was transported there.
Director Thane Maynard said the zoo’s dangerous animal response unit that practices for such incidents decided the boy was in “a life-threatening situation” and they needed to put down the 400-pound-plus 17-year-old male gorilla name Harambe.
"They made a tough choice and they made the right choice because they saved that little boy's life," Maynard said. "It could have been very bad."
He said the gorilla didn’t appear to be attacking the child, but the animal was “extremely strong” in an agitated situation. Maynard added that tranquilizing the gorilla wouldn’t have knocked it out immediately, leaving the boy in worse danger.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, fire department officials said the boy was in between the gorilla’s legs when it was shot.
Maynard said it was the first time that the team had killed a zoo animal in such an emergency situation, and he called it "a very sad day" at the zoo. The lowland gorilla is an endangered species. He said that no one in the zoo’s 38 years has anyone gotten into the enclosure.
The incident was reported. The area around the gorilla exhibit was closed off Saturday afternoon as zoo visitors reported hearing screaming.
Harambe came to Cincinnati  from the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas.
Hospital officials said they couldn't release any information on the child. Authorities hadn't released the child's name.
Cincinnati Police Department spokesman Lt. Steve Saunders said no chargers were being pursued against the child’s parents.
The zoo said Saturday night the Gorilla World area would remain closed until further notice after earlier saying it would be open on Sunday. Maynard said the zoo believed the exhibit remains safe. They are still investigating, but zoo officials believe the boy crawled through a railing barrier, then fell into the moat.
The zoo prides itself for its work in protecting endangered species, and has been part of successful captive breeding efforts in recent years in the effort to save the endangered Sumatran rhino.

Education, health facilities make nations rather than motorways: Imran Khan

SWAT: Chiarman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan here on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for promising development through construction of motorways and said that nations are made by providing improved educational and health facilities to masses.
Imran Khan addressed a huge rally in Swat and slammed Nawaz Sharif for promising motorways but no laying emphasis on true development.  "Nawaz Sharif said during his address a couple of days ago in Swat that he couldn't see the new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from his helicopter. Mian sahib, you won't be able to see our new KP. Our new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be made in hospitals and schools," he said.
Further criticising Nawaz Sharif's policies, Imran said Pakistan did not require motorways but educational institutes. He also said that countries that do not spend on their children's education could never progress.
He also stated that much was still needed to be done in KP, especially with regard to hospitals. "We have strengthened institutions in Pakistan," said Imran. "Now we are in a position that we can make the hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exemplary for the rest to follow."
Imran also said that by the year's end, a significant difference would be noted in hospitals across KP. He lashed out at Nawaz Sharif and placed blame on him for damaging the country's institutions.
"You have been taking turns since 30 years, what have you done to improve hospitals? Mian sahab, you have destroyed the police and bureaucracy," he said. "This was our first term and we have improved KP's police significantly. Today in Pakistan, the least amount of corruption takes place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," he said.
Imran Khan further said that as many as two-hundred billion Pakistani rupees were lying abroad.
"That is why we have to hold accountable the elite and dacoits," he said. "We have to bring back these two hundred billion Pakistani rupees that are abroad. This amount can be used to repay our loans, which are currently being paid through your taxes," he said.
Nawaz Sharif will have to answer to the nation for the Panama leaks controversy. We are with the joint opposition but if the need arises, will stand against Nawaz Sharif alone, he said.
"Mian sahib, if you allege that me and Jahangir Tarin are corrupt, then why don't you arrest us?" he demanded. "If our government comes, we will not allege that you are corrupt. We will throw you in jails," he said.

EgyptAir Flight Data Suggests'smoke Alert'Went Off Before Crash...

CAIRO: Flight data from EgyptAir Flight MS804 showed smoke alerts went off inside the cabin before the plane, with 66 people on board, plunged in the Mediterranean, according to reports revealed Saturday.

Signals from the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) showed smoke was detected in the toilet and the aircraft’s electrics before the plane crashed, according to the Aviation Herald website, which tracks incidents in the aviation industry.
While the Aviation Herald site said the information came from three independent channels, the report was not officially confirmed.
Reports of the smoke alerts came as search teams continued to scour the area in the Mediterranean where EgyptAir Flight MS804 is believed to have crashed early Thursday.
Debris from the plane -- including human remains, wreckage and personal belongings of the passengers – has been found around 190 miles (306 kilometres) north of the Egyptian city of Alexandria, according to Egyptian authorities.
However the plane’s flight data and cockpit voice recorders – also known as “the black box” -- have not yet been retrieved.
‘It’s not black box information’
While the flight data and cockpit voice recorders provide the best clues to the cause of a crash, the ACARS is merely a data link for sending messages between planes and ground facilities.
Experts have warned that the ACARS information has not been verified as yet and that the system merely transmits short condition updates.
“It’s not black box information, it’s not verified at the moment,” said aviation expert David Gleave in an interview , noting that the smoke alerts “may be indicative of electrical problems on the airplane causing these messages to be triggered.”—Agencies..

Combat power, allies best way to deter North Korea: U.S. military official..

North Korea is on a quest to develop nuclear-armed ballistic missiles that can strike the United States, and the best way to counter Pyongyang is with combat power and strong alliances, the commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific said on Tuesday.Admiral Harry Harris, the head of U.S. Pacific Command, told a South Korea support group in Washington that no threat in the region was "more dangerous than North Korea" and its leader Kim Jong-un.
"He recently threatened pre-emptive nuclear strikes against the United States and other countries in the region," Harris said. "Folks, make no mistake about it. North Korea is on a quest for nuclear weapons, the means to miniaturize them and the ways to deliver them intercontinentally."
Harris said the threat from Pyongyang was one reason he has been working to boost trilateral cooperation among South Korea, Japan and the United States. Military cooperation among the three "is good, and I'd like to get it better," he said.
Harris said the recent settlement of the Second World War "comfort women" issue between Japan and South Korea would help enable better cooperation.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's new defense guidelines allowing Tokyo to play a more robust role in security affairs also will help, he added.
"Working trilaterally, I believe we can bolster our collective defense against North Korean provocations," Harris said.
He said U.S., Japanese and South Korean diplomats plan to expand cooperation due to North Korea's aggressive nuclear and missile testing program this year. They also decided to build on a trilateral information-sharing arrangement aimed at countering Pyongyang's missile threats.
Under the umbrella of that deal, they plan to conduct a missile defense exercise on the sidelines of the Rim of the Pacific naval maneuvers this summer, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said this week.
Harris said the exercise would improve their ability to "operate together in a ballistic missile defense environment."
U.S. and South Korean officials are currently discussing whether to deploy the U.S. THAAD missile defense system on the peninsula. Harris said that decision would be made jointly by the alliance.
Regarding China's island-building in the South China Sea, Harris said Washington had more areas of constructive collaboration with Beijing than it had disputes. But he noted China sometimes engaged in "provocative and aggressive behavior."

"We should cooperate with China wherever we can, but we have to confront China where we must," Harris said. "Some of their activities in the South China Sea falls into that category."

FAZL THROWS WEIGHT BEHIND NAWAZ:

Maulana Fazl, in his address, assured his party’s support to the prime minister and said a vast majority of people were backing him. He said his party wants peace, stability and strong democracy in Pakistan and the opposition should not go to the extent where democracy is under threat.
He said the prime minister accepted the demand of setting up a commission under chief justice of Pakistan as well as a parliamentary committee to investigate the Panama Leaks but PTI has been backtracking from its demands. He said the cat is now out of the bag as the PTI is being dictated from abroad. He asked Imran Khan why he supported his Jewish ex-brother-in-law against a Muslim of Pakistani origin in London’s mayoral elections.
The JUI-F chief said the opposition is trying to run away because it not the prime minister but the opposition which has thieves in its ranks. He said Imran Khan had requested Nawaz Sharif to allot to him a plot in Lahore to build a house, and wondered how he became so rich that he established an offshore company.

He said he is supporting the prime minister for the cause of democracy. He said it was his dream to make DI Khan a junction of international trade and the implementation of the CPEC will play an important role in this connection.

“I really appreciate Afghan-US forces who fought for my recovery,” Gilani, who was bearded, clad in a white T-shirt and sporting a camouflage baseball cap, said while talking to the media on his arrival.
Senior protocol officials of Foreign Office and brother of Ali Haider Gilani are in Kabul to bring Ali Haider home, said Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria.
He said Ali Haider was handed over to Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan Syed Ibrar Hussain at the Ministry of Defence in Kabul, from where he went to Kabul airport to travel to Pakistan.
Kasim Gilani, the twin brother of Ali Haider, posted a picture on Twitter before departing for Kabul to bring his brother home. He captioned the image, “Taking off from Islamabad to bring back our hero.”
The information about the recovery of Ali Haider was conveyed by Afghan National Security Adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar to Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in a telephonic conversation.
