IN KARACHI: Director General (DG) Rangers Major
General Bilal Akbar has warned on Wednesday that no political party would be
allowed to forcefully shut down the city, after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement
declared to observe a ‘protest day’ today against a reported raid on the party
leader Farooq Sattar’s residence on last Tuesday.
“We will provide
complete security to transporters and unruly elements who tried to disrupt the
business activities of Karachi will not be spared,” clarified the DG Rangers.
Muttahida
Qaumi Movement
announced to stage a protest against what they thought was ‘misconduct of
Rangers personnel’ and the cordoning off the residence of Farooq Sattar during
a search operation in the PIB area of Karachi.
Nevertheless, life in
the city along with all the business activities continues to remain normal.
