IN ISLAMABAD: The countrywide campaign for
re-verification of Computerized National Identity Cards began on Friday.
National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has established the helpline
capable of handling 10,000 calls per day and a gateway of 150,000 SMS per day
to facilitate people who will report suspected CNICs issued to aliens. NADRA
will ensure utilization of all its resources to achieve the desired objective
of removing aliens from Authority's database within the given timeline. The
Authority has completed all arrangements to make the national drive a success.
NADRA has also prepared a media strategy for awareness of masses in this
regard. The Authority has also launched a reward scheme under which those
giving information about presence of foreigners with Pakistani identity cards
or passports would be rewarded ten thousand rupees per person.
